A brief but enduring power-pop trio
James Darroch formed The Eastern Dark after leaving [Celibate Rifles](/bands/celibate-rifles/), with Bill Gibson on bass and Geoff Milne on drums.
Two years of recordings and live work
The trio became known for opening each show with the next song in the Ramones catalogue. Waterfront issued Julie Is a Junkie in 1985, and the band completed the Rob Younger
-produced Long Live the New Flesh! the following year.
Posthumous catalogue
Darroch was killed in a road accident on 4 March 1986, days after the EP sessions, while Gibson and Milne were injured. The EP appeared posthumously, followed by collections of live, demo and studio material.
