Country music played at punk speed
The Johnnys turned a country-punk side project into one of the busiest acts on the Australian pub circuit.
Beginnings
Graham Hood and Hoodoo Gurus
guitarist Rod Radalj devised the group with drummer Billy Pommer Jr. New Zealand-born guitarist Spencer P. Jones
joined soon after and became its principal singer after Radalj’s departure.
Records and later shows
The band released a self-titled EP and two studio albums, both produced by Ross Wilson. After separating in 1989, The Johnnys returned for occasional shows and later toured as a trio.
