History
A tribute pressed into vinyl
Storming the Citadel brought together contemporary Australian, French and American groups to reinterpret songs associated with Citadel Records. The project became a pair of limited 10-inch records containing twelve performances.
The Sydney sessions were recorded at Damien Gerard Studios under the production guidance of Radio Birdman and New Christs singer Rob Younger. Other contributions arrived from as far afield as San Diego and Le Havre.
Divine Rites Records
Divine Rites Records was created to release these records. The label was not intended to become a separate catalogue or institution: its purpose was to give the project a physical form and bring the two compilations into the world.
Two records, twelve bands
The finished edition was limited to 700 copies. Each participating band approached a song from the Citadel catalogue in its own way, connecting a new generation of groups with the records that inspired them.
